Liz GeorgeCandidate Oklahoma Representative District 42
Native of Blanchard, Liz George, formally announced her candidacy for State Representative of House District 42. The district covers parts of Garvin and McClain counties and includes the cities of Blanchard, Cole, Dibble, Elmore City, Erin Springs, Foster, Goldsby, Katie, Lindsay, Maysville, Paoli, Pauls Valley, Purcell, Washington, and Wayne.
“I am running for the State House because I feel compelled to take action to support our community and ensure our future success. I can no longer sit back and watch the current elected officials destroy public education, our economy, and the health and well- being of our neighbors and children.”
Liz George is a fifth generation Oklahoman. She grew up in Blanchard, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Cameron University. After graduating, George and her husband, David, moved back to their hometown of Blanchard in 2007. Liz went on to attend and graduate with top honors from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2011. She currently works as an attorney at Crowe & Dunlevy, PC.
As a School Board Member, mother, and the wife of a small business owner, George sees how the extreme budget cuts and mismanagement of our tax dollars at the Capitol are affecting everyday Oklahomans.
“My husband and I moved back to our hometown because it represents the values we want to instill in our children.” George said, “I want to protect and promote quality public education, small businesses, and a thriving, supportive, and inclusive community. If elected, I will work to maximize every tax payer dollar and stop the wasteful actions of our current legislature.”
George and her husband have two sons: Gavin and Emory. In addition to her law practice, Liz serves on the board of the Young Women’s Christian Association and works as an adjunct professor at OCU School of Law. She recently received recognition as one of Oklahoma Magazine’s “40 Under 40.”
